Green Leach Underground Inlet Drainage System

Green Leach Underground Inlet

A one-piece inground water collector

Features of the Green Leach Water Inlets

The Green Leach Underground Inlet is designed to enhance efficiency and sustainability. Its one-piece groundwater collector minimizes soil loss and significantly reduces drainage time in terrace basins. Surrounding the collector is a native river stone filter area that effectively reduces the flow of harmful chemicals into creeks and rivers, contributing to a cleaner, safer environment for everyone.

Step 1: Excavation

Remove the existing above-ground inlet by excavating 2 feet of soil on all four sides to a depth of approximately 3½ to 4 feet, or until you reach the inlet tee connection.

Remove the top and bottom sections of the existing inlet.

Step 3: Backfilling

Place approximately 3 to 4 cubic yards of 3” oversized river stone evenly around the Green Leach Inlet.

Keep the inlet vertical as you backfill toward ground level.

Add river stone until you reach a 12” cover above the top of the Green Leach Inlet.

Level the river stone across the top of the pit.

Step 4: Finishing

Level the river stone across the top of the pit.

Your installation is complete, providing you with a maintenance-free groundwater inlet that is safer, more economical, and environmentally friendly.

Environmental Impact of Blocked Inlet and Weed Infestation

Ponding That Occurs When An Above Ground Inlet Is Plugged

This photo vividly illustrates the consequences of a blocked above-ground inlet, showcasing the ponding that occurs as a result of restricted drainage. The stagnant water not only poses environmental risks but also disrupts the natural flow dynamics.

Lost Acreage To Weeds When The Ponding Dries Up

In stark contrast to the ponding scenario, this photo reveals the aftermath of dried-up ponding, where weed infestation has taken over the once submerged area. The encroachment of weeds highlights the ecological challenges faced when natural water flow is obstructed and subsequently depleted.

Our one-piece groundwater collector not only minimizes soil erosion but also accelerates drainage within the terrace basin. Encased in a natural river stone filter, the collector effectively limits direct water runoff into creeks or rivers, preventing the release of harmful chemicals and promoting a cleaner, safer environment for all.

“We have used the Green Leach Underground system in several situations over the last 5-6 years. We have had no maintenance issues with any system. When used in a Buffer Strip and seeded terrace setting, the ability to mow the top of the inlets and not have to move around an above-ground riser makes field maintenance very easy. And you don’t have to deal with weedy inlets. In fields that are grazed, it is great not to have cattle rubbing and breaking off the below-ground system when compared to the normal above-ground riser. In our crop fields, we plant and harvest over the inlets with no issues. We have been so pleased with the system that just recently, we have installed 7 additional Green Leach Underground Inlets.”

I recommend the Green Leach Underground Inlet to anyone who wants to save money and improve their time spent working around their above-ground inlets. I have had these inlets for five-plus years, and I have never had one problem with them because they always work. They are worry-free, and I never wonder where they are when I am in the field. You install them and forget them. It’s that easy. I cannot imagine how many people would benefit from having them in their pastures, fields, or yards. Plus, you don’t see them. Water just runs to the area where they are installed, and it goes away. I am very satisfied, and I know you will be too.
